this is a definition of faith by prof. peter boghossin that seems to be based on reason as compared to common understanding or religious teachings.

Lois, that is where I got it and that was the best definition I could find.  I am accused of losing it all the time.

Not accusing you of anything, Grand pa, but you sais THIS is the best definition, but I saw nothing that tells me what THIS is.  Where is the definition you are referring to?

I like Hebrews 11:1 ‘s definition.  “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
