OK read it - now can you explain specifically what “More stuff (IS) to not trust” ?

What then should we trust in, if not science?

The priests who said God told them to tell us they’re trustworthy. The CAM practitioners selling us all natural, chemical free, organic homeopathic tinctures to cure us with their assertions, emotional appeals, and testimonials. And the politicians. Because they’d never lie or use a PR team to manipulate our stupid, stupid brains.

psik, you’ve highlighted one of the most hideous aspects of our public Anthropogenic Global Warming dialogue.

Trying to deal with the contrarian PR campaign is like shadow boxing - they toss out nothing but vapor,
then disappear back into their self-reinforcing echo-chamber.

Nothing gets established, nothing is learned, while the sand races through the hourglass.

What?  People cannot recognize sarcasm here?

I don’t think the issue is trust anyway.  It is probability.

The increased acidity of the oceans should be enough to tell us we are fucked.

I didn’t seriously start paying attention to this until after I watched James Burke’s After the Warming in 1989.  But just looking at and thinking about the Keeling Curve was enough for me.  The atmosphere is only a billion cubic miles and that is just counting the bottom 5 miles of altitude.

We have only gone up another 50 ppm since then.  Trivial!  [sarcasm]

We are dealing with something too big and too complicated to really measure accurately so talking about trust is nonsense.  This is best guesses.  But there is NO SPARE PLANET with SEVEN BILLION PEOPLE and rising.

How much crap is going to hit the fan when the first billion people starve?

Oh yes, they are accurate enought to trust. And for once I must agree with psikeyhackr.

It seems that man has no natural enemies except man and the limited ability of the earth’s biosphere to withstand the damage we do to it.

Thus, I agree that billions will die, either by war (nuclear) or by natural global responses to man’s ignorance of the exponential detrimental effects of man’s industrialization on our biosphere.

Perhaps this is the *natural selection* process for humans. *Extinction through exhaustion*

The reason to think in terms of probability instead of trust:

Will Global Warming Heat Us Beyond Our Physical Limits?
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/2015/12/151215-global-warming-heat-wave-stress-death-climate/

If we don’t cut greenhouse gases, it’s not just storms and rising seas we’d have to worry about. The heat alone could kill a lot of us.

Another hundred years of study to know for sure if we are doing irreversible damage to the planet? And in the mean time we are going to continue merrily on the path we have chosen?

I can imagine the headlines (after a 100 years of data gathering), *Global warming run-away effect confirmed*!
But this not a case of *better being late than sorry*.

Shame on you!

That “100 year” quote was from around 1960 by a guy who did not have satellite data.  LOL

This is a nice documentary

Documentary about weather of the world

I never heard that Antarctica was 43 degrees colder than the Arctic before.

Yeah!
Earth from Space by NOVA in cooperation with NASA
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/earth/earth-from-space.html

I think it’s one of the coolest most informative videos around when it comes to trying conceptualize our
global heat and moisture distribution engine.

As for Antarctica - bet that’s just because you never stopped to think about it before.
Arctic is an ocean with an increasingly slushy ice cap floating around it.
Antarctica is a continent that rises to

Antarctica is the highest continent on Earth: average elevation is 8,200ft (2500m). The elevation at the South Pole is 9,300ft (2835m). The highest point on the icecap is in Australian Antarctic Territory at 13,451ft (4100m), at 82° 20’S, 56° 30’E. Mount Vinson is the highest mountain in Antarctica at 16,050ft (4892m).

Oh and in recent decades the Ozone Hole has allowed more heat to escape into space, making yet (slightly) colder
