Hi gang

I’m brand new today.

Am a skeptic, agnostic and atheist in that order of appearance.

I debate Christians online as one of my fav hobbies.
I consider that to be my “window onto the world of philosophy”.

I’ve been given my final warning in the place I debate at… yeah.. I’m a real rule breaker.

Thing is, I don’t mind if people like me online or not.
I care about ideas.

Not a lot of people like that very much.
They would rather have me AGREE with everything and put a smiley face to every line.
Not this cat’s style.

I live in Ottawa, Canada.

I’m not sure if telling us you’re a rule-breaker right off the bat is the best way to introduce yourself.  I’m not saying you have to back down or compromise your beliefs in any way.  Goodness knows I’ve argued and debated a lot myself.  But there is a line between standing up for what you believe and being obnoxious.  There comes a time in every argument when, after both of you have made your positions perfectly clear, you have to just call it a day.

Welcome to the forum anyway!  I’m sure we’ll find some interesting things to talk about.

Meh.. why mince words?
I’m being honest.

That other site… is having a problem with me.
They perceive me as a rule breaker.

I don’t agree, of course, that’s their judgement, not mine.
You know.. I think that perhaps their religious sensitives have been bruised.

I don’t compromise my ideas at all… If I get convinced by a good bit of reasoning, I change my mind.
If I get crap reasoning, I just don’t.

Maybe that’s why I don’t automatically get liked.
But of course, as I said.. I care more for the ideas than being liked.

Yeah, I guess I’m obnoxious.
And not all of my wonderful humor comes across.

Thanks… I’d like to debate people with whom I DISAGREE…
So, I hope I can find some.

Otherwise, it gets boring real quick.

Blastcat, You’re the one who said you’re a rule breaker without equivocation.

You wrote: “I’ve been given my final warning in the place I debate at… yeah.. I’m a real rule breaker.”

Then you equivocate and say the other site perceives you as a rule breaker.

Which is it? And which rules do you break? I can see a problem here.

But we’re willing to hear what you have to say and what kind of rules you tend to break. There are a couple of rules on this blog that you can’t break without being removed.

Welcome fellow Canadian.

Are you willing to share the place you were debating theists?  It would be interesting to see the conversations that you had.  You don’t have to give your name there, just the address so I can check it out.

Yes, I recall writing that.

You wrote: “I’ve been given my final warning in the place I debate at… yeah.. I’m a real rule breaker.”

Yes, those were my exact words.

I don’t agree that I broke their rules, but that’s how they judge me and they are the final arbiters. I objected, of course.
I got shot down pretty severely. But I am still posting there as we speak. I have two tabs open in my browser right now.

According to that site’s administrators, I’m a real rule breaker, alright.

Apparently, I wasn’t civil enough.
They thought that what I wrote was a personal attack.

It wasn’t even close.
The theists there don’t have much of a sense of humor, either…. so they mistake what I write as insults.. ( to which I say “WOW” )

Thanks for your concern.
It’s nice.

I just found the rule page.. and read it.
You can follow me around if you like.. make sure I don’t break any.

That would be very nice, too.

Well, I think it’s ok to say without violating any rule in here:

That’s my profile page.
Blastcat is the name.

If you decide to join, send me a personal message and I will greet you personally smile
There seems to be no strike-through in here.

If, as you say, you’re a “skeptic, agnostic and atheist in that order of appearance”, you won’t find a lot of people here to disagree with on those topics.  One or two, maybe, but they don’t tend to stick around for long. We do have a comspiracy theorist or two, and we have some political discussions. You didn’t say where your are politically. You might find someone to disagree with when it comes to politics.

Apparently when we edit a post to correct typos, the spam cop thinks we’re sending spam—even if all we do is change a letter or two on mistyped words, so please overlook any typos. They can no longer be edited. (This is new. I was able to edit my posts in the past with no problem.) I’ve been a professional editor for many years and my own typos are really annoying!

I truly will die without being able to edit.
Of course, I’ll die anyway, but just sayin’.

Well, you can edit sometimes, but I find the spam cop is often on duty. You can always try it and see if your edited post goes through. Mine always used to go through, but in the last week or so, they’ve been rejected. Maybe you’ll get a better result. Worth a try, anyway.
