We know that all species ebb and flow here and within our species, civilization ebbs and flows. I think it’s safe to say other life forms on other planets would experience the same. If they were smart enough, they would have figured out how to overcome that limitation and keep advancing. If they are way smarter and way stronger, they aren’t contacting us because we don’t mean anything to them. If they are smarter, but have the limitations we’ve discovered, they have probably figured out how to mask themselves so any electronic signals they are sending out look to us like the cosmic microwave background.

I think the most likely scenarios are, we encounter aliens and it works out terrible for us, or aliens are hiding from us.

Aliens exist in exactly the same way that gods exist—in human imagination, niowhere else.

I have a feeling it’s the latter. Every millenium or so they send a scout. He reports back “some haven’t used a toilet yet or have access to their most precious commodity water. Try again next millenium”.

Or, like the third world child who is having America explained to him by a missionary, “So, they have bowls of water in their house, and they poop in them?!”

Third world?

I’m into the blues and roots music and laughed when I read about some white country musician back in the 20s who were brought to the city to do some recording. Neither had even seen indoor plumbing and the music producer got furious when he found that one of the guys had taken a dump in his sink.

I enjoyed the first three Star Wars movies, but I wouldn’t go so far as to call myself a “fan”.  I’m more of a Trekkie.

Poop and Trekkie was my first choice, but talked myself into Star Wars.

I saw the third episode of the original in seventh grade and despite myself, I wound up loving it as much as all the other guys in class.

I think I was a Junior when I saw Star Wars - I could never get over my incredulity factor - where the hell was all stuff being manufactured and what kinds of planet’s worth of resources were devoured for these army who’s only goal was to destroy what the others had.

Too weird for me - but it seems part and parcel of the Reaganomics*  too much is never enough mentality that was sweeping the nation.

* before he was president he was our governor so Californians were already way too familiar and in love with avaricious compulsions.

see ya.
