Teflon Don confounds Democrats
Democrats have attacked the president every which way, but polling and focus groups show none of it’s working.

Are the inept Democrats going to lose badly in 2018 because they remain clueless ?

It’s a terrifying article since it rings so true.

They don’t need to attack trump, they need to offer Americans a real alternative to blind selfish greed and intolerance.

As Jimmy Carter stated, the only reason that trump was elected is that enough people stopped trusting the democrats to allow the worst option possible to take over.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhebmG148Zo

Instead of getting back to its roots the Democrat party is rigging their primary system to block somebody like Sanders from winning the party candidateship. Doing things like moving up the California primary date making it very hard for someone to come from behind to beat the establishment candidate.

Americans are tired of the establishment control of their lives, they elected trump based on the fantasy that he would be a positive alternative. The Democratic establishment can attack trump all they want, it’s them that Americans trust even less than trump.

The Dems need a real candidate, not one that is imposed on the party like with Hillary last year. IF Sanders was allowed a fair shot at being the Dems candidate last year, which he almost certainly would have won, enough people would have shown up to vote to win a real victory.

All good points. Except the Sanders winning. America is not yet stupid enough to vote in a communist president.

You prefer a Kremlin backed stooge for president, your opinion on this is about as relevant as your “science” on climate change.

There’s a difference between socialism and communism and there’s no question that Sanders is a socialist.

Socialism gives us things like affordable health care, housing that doesn’t require millionaire status to own your own home in a city, jobs that pay an actual livable wage, sound social policies, sustainable environmental policies and more.

Corporatism give us medicine that was developed 60 years ago and that just 20 years ago cost $1 a pill now costs $750 a pill because some asshole thought the reason that medication and medicine exists not to save people’s lives, butt to make him rich.

https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/martin-shkreli-who-raised-drug-prices-from-13-50-to-750-arrested-in-securities-fraud-probe/

A privately held startup, Turing sparked controversy earlier this year after news reports that it had raised the price of Daraprim (pyrimethamine), a 62-year-old drug used for protozoal infections, to $750 a tablet from $13.50 after acquiring it.

Shkreli, 32, was expected to be charged on Thursday for illegally using Retrophin assets to pay off debts after MSMB lost millions of dollars, the source said.

And he’s just the tip of the massive rip-off that is “medicine” in the US, if republicans get their way it will cost cancer patients $140,000 a year to get treatment. Everybody except millionaires will be left with sub-standard or no medical coverage at all. Life shouldn’t be a luxury, but that’s how it’s treated by the super-rich who now run government either directly like trump. Or through politicians they buy outright.

Corporatism is “Too big to fail” banks that fail anyway and take out a huge chunk of the economy and cost millions of Americans their homes, jobs and future.

Corporatism is ExxonMobil and the Koch brothers laundering hundreds of millions of dollars through blind foundations so that deniers like you can get paid to lie about climate change which foots the rest of us with massive bills. Over $1 billion for all the fires here this year and probably over $200 billion for the cost of the hurricanes that have hit the US already and the hurricane season still has two months to run.

It’s pretty damn clear we need to move back the center of the political spectrum, we have someone white supremacists just love in the Oval Office right now.

Someone you clearly adore…. as if being a climate change denier wasn’t disgusting enough.

No, but they were stupid enough to vote in a Nazi president.

Come, come LoisL no need to resort to Godwin’s law we all know that trump isn’t a na….

....oh shit

https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2016/11/richard-spencer-speech-npi/508379/

“Hail Trump, hail our people, hail victory!”

That’s how Richard B. Spencer saluted more than 200 attendees on Saturday, gathered at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, D.C., for the annual conference of the National Policy Institute, which describes itself as “an independent organization dedicated to the heritage, identity, and future of people of European descent in the United States, and around the world.”

Spencer has popularized the term “alt-right” to describe the movement he leads. Spencer has said his dream is “a new society, an ethno-state that would be a gathering point for all Europeans,” and has called for “peaceful ethnic cleansing.”

American nazis seem to think trump is one of them.

Let’s see what trump did when a nazi drove a car at high speed into a group of people protesting a nazi rally in Charlotteville.

http://www.cnn.com/2017/08/15/politics/trump-charlottesville-delay/index.html

President Donald Trump, in a staggering, impromptu news conference in New York on Tuesday, blamed the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, over the weekend on both sides of the conflict—equating the white supremacists on one side with the “alt-left” on the other side—after his top White House aides spent days trying to clean up after Trump’s initial vague response to the violence.

trump equates the people opposing these nazis with these nazis. That’s like saying the hundreds of thousands of Americans who died fighting fascism in the 1940s were as bad as the Axis asshole who were slaughtering millions worldwide.

trump has incited violence against mostly minority protesters at his white pow… sorry “political” rallies. Very reminiscent of Hitler’s brownshirts isn’t it?

http://www.cnn.com/2017/04/02/politics/donald-trump-lawsuit-incite-violence-kentucky-rally/index.html

Three protesters may move ahead with their lawsuit against President Donald Trump’s campaign and two Trump supporters, one of them a white nationalist, who attacked them at a Kentucky rally last year.

While US District Judge David Hale ruled out the notion that the attackers were Trump’s agents, he said it’s plausible the would-be president incited a riot. He denied the defendant’s motions to dismiss or strike portions of the complaint.

“At this early stage of the case, the court finds most of the plaintiffs’ claims to be sufficient,” Hale ruled.

He clearly hates minority groups like Mexicans and Muslims in America.

http://news.sky.com/story/five-insults-donald-trump-has-fired-at-mexicans-in-the-presidential-race-10559438

Donald Trump ignited a fierce row with Mexico by claiming the country’s immigrants to the US were not its “best” during the launch of his presidential bid at Trump Towers in New York in June 2015.

He said: “When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best.

“They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us.

“They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/fact-checker/wp/2015/11/22/donald-trumps-outrageous-claim-that-thousands-of-new-jersey-muslims-celebrated-the-911-attacks/

If it goosesteps like a nazi…

and it nazi salutes like a nazi…

then it’s a damn nazi…

I’d rather have a socialist in the Oval Office than a freak that scores higher than Hitler on the psychopath scale.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/donald-trump-psychopath-researcher-oxford-university-kevin-dutton-a7204706.html

Donald Trump has more psychopathic traits than Adolf Hitler, according to a a new study.

Using a standard psychometric tool, Dr Kevin Dutton of Oxford University ranked both presidential candidates and a series of historical world figures.

Trump scored 171, achieving two more points than Adolf Hitler, after experts gave their suggestions on how each individual would have scored against a series of questions.

And all this before we even get to the part where he’s been in bed with the Putin Kremlin for years.

If the goofy old party had brought “Rocket Man” over from North Korea to be their candidate the US would still probably be better off.

There’s a difference between socialism and communism and there’s no question that Sanders is a socialist.

Capitalism has made America what it is today. Most people realize communist countries start off as socialist countries. Look at old Russia. Most American are not fooled by the democrat socialists’ ploy. When Bernie was mayor he was passing regulations that people say were not backing the democratic system. You can call Bernie the Pope if you want.

First-of-its-kind YouGov Poll Shows “Bernie Sanders Bounce” for Collectivism.

Surprising Support for Socialism and Communism Among Younger Americans. 45% of 16-20 year olds would vote for a “Socialist”; 21% for a “Communist”. One-third of Millennials Believe George W. Bush Killed More People Than Stalin. Vast Majority Unaware of Communism’s Death Toll. More Millennials Prefer Words of Karl Marx Over the Bible. Bernie Sanders’ Philosophy Wins More Support Than Milton Friedman’s.

Scary bunch of self-interested Totalitarians.  Yes with a capital T.

Pence’s chief of staff floats ‘purge’ of anti-Trump Republicans to wealthy donors
Nick Ayers urges donors to ‘form a coalition’ to take on GOP leaders and members who don’t back the president.
By ANDREW RESTUCCIA and MATTHEW NUSSBAUM 10/03/2017

But Ayers reserved his harshest criticism for congressional leaders and members who have not offered full-throated support for the president.

“Just imagine the possibilities of what can happen if our entire party unifies behind him? If — and this sounds crass — we can purge the handful of people who continue to work to defeat him,” Ayers said, according to an audio recording of the remarks obtained by POLITICO.

Why all the hand-wringing about the Dems needing to get a better message etc. The Dems won! Their message is fine. HC got 3 million more votes. She won. The problem is the anti-democratic electoral college system. Stop losing focus.

Oh please, I expect better from you.
Republican own the house and the senate, a truly frighteningly uninformed and unstable joke was elected president, when he should have lost by a landslide (as Bush jr should have been !!!) - and it’s hoohum, we would have won if only. . .
just like the Bush Gore disaster.
Or failure to stop the gerrymandering and other attacks of legitimate voting rights, etc.

Democracy can’t seem to take a damned thing serious.
They still don’t know how to mobilize their base - hell they don’t even know how to defend being liberal against a tsunami of lies.

Here’s an interesting aside,

Stop losing focus.

Offer me something real to focus on.  Please.
It seems to me like it’s all dissolved into a chaotic romper room and few want to get involved in the puke splattered mess.

I would focus on gerrymandering and money in politics. You can fight for those in a non-partisan manner. They are improvements in fairness. Getting the voice of the actual majority would sort out any other problems.

Actually either of those could be overridden by increasing voter participation, especially with young people. Statistically, higher turnout is more likely to result in Democrats. But, then you need policies that attract young and progressive voters, so that sends you back into the quagmire.

The crux of the matter regarding Democrats message is that they have lost mainstream Americans.
