My heart goes out to the people of Sutherland Springs. God Bless you and may the Lord comfort you in your time of loss. May the peace and love of God be with you always.

Where was the good lord you speak of when this guy was shooting innocent people? Where was he when the other shithead was killing innocent people in Las Vegas? You call on him after the fact but never wonder if he’s as good as you think, why did he allow these travesties to happen in the first place? Why didn’t he put some sense into the minds of gun nuts and their protectors in Congress and the White House? Why did he make people in other countries so much more rational than people in the US? Does he have it in for the US? If so all the “thoughts and prayers” in the world wouldn’t make a blind but of difference. Anyone with at least half a functioning brain could see that. He allows it to happen then you call on him to give “comfort” to the victims. Why not call on him to prevent these tragedies if he’s so powerful and good? I’ll tell you why, because such a god can’t exist and people are starting to figure that out, not nearly enough of them nor quickly enough to do much good, but at least it’s happening.

Well said.
One thing for sure their God isn’t in the heavens, it’s firm nestled within their hyper-inflated self-obsessed EGO.

Yes the One God of Christianity = EGO run-amuck

He didn’t mean it, it’s pure dog whistle.

Did you see the idiots on fox say that if they had to go in a mass shooting a church was the best place for it.

Instead of effective gun control there are going to be designated best shooting locations in the US to be slaughtered. Kind of reminds me of Islamic terrorists who think they’re going straight to paradise to enjoy virgins when they blow up a bunch of other people.

In this case it’s the “free” market extremists who keep claiming we need to keep selling death on an industrial scale.

Then show the utter hypocrisy of evoking god when people do in fact die.

Mike Yohe is our resident climate change denier here, I’m pretty sure that the 42 people who died in the massive California wildfires would prefer to still be alive and wouldn’t give a shit how he thinks about anything.

How is the weather in St. Pete’s, it’s getting cold here now.

Do any skating out on Lake Ladoga when it freezes?

In soviet russia you don’t skate on frozen lake, frozen lake skate on you.

It really is true that republicans only care about other people before they’re born and after they die.

The real issue with this in particular is comfort and familiarity with firearms.

Callous BS! The real issue is whether the gun seeker’s background is good enough for the country to allow him/her to have guns.

You’re mixing 2 trains of thought.

Which is the real problem in the US, whatever the right wing trolls claim about how they care about who gets guns in the US, the simple fact is there are so many holes in the system that it leaks like a sieve.

With almost one gun in circulation for every US citizen, anyone who really wants a gun is going to get one. And if they have completely dark intentions on how to use them like the Las Vegas and now the Texas shooters then a lot of people are going to die.

It doesn’t matter what window dressing they put on this, as long as there are so many guns on the streets they will be used for violent crimes.

Crimes will still take place without the presence of guns, but if this lunatic had gone into this church with murder on his mind but only a knife then the damage would have been much less.

And the way that deeply troubled people in the US are treated makes this problem even worse.

Instead of arming the mentally ill how about actually treating them so they don’t commit violence in the first place.

But that would violate the “everyman for himself” code of the republicans who then claim they’re so upset when something like this happens. Most of the population of the US has been abandoned by the “elite” there who then condemn them when they succumb to the chronic dysfunction all around them.

In a culture based on violence at all levels with hundreds of millions of guns on the street and no real care for the percentage of people who are simply not able to cope with the stress this creates then violent outbreaks like this are inevitable.

Not only does the US need sane and enforceable gun control laws, it needs ways to create the kind of equality and social justice the Constitution was designed to create.

All men are not created equal when just a few are pulling everyone else’s strings to make them dance.

Another senseless tragic episode of killings by a crazy guy in a gun-crazy nation.
