Bring your blankets, picnic baskets, and sunscreen and come meet other secular families for some lunch and fun, earth-friendly activities at Garfield Park’s Earth Day Extravanaga, an all day outdoor funfest celebrating the reduce-reuse-recycle message of Earth Day.  The Earth Day Extravaganza runs from 11am-4pm and is appropriate for all ages.

We will meet at noon to enjoy our picnics together, and then split off to enjoy the afternoon’s activities with our families. The exact picnic meeting spot will be posted on the CFI Community of Indiana Forums board ( http://www.cfi-forums.org/) and the Secular Family Network yahoo group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/IN_SecularFamilyNetwork/ ) closer to the date of the event.

Event: [b:062a9e2915]Jungle Book—A Children’s Live Theatre Presentation[/b:062a9e2915]

Cost: $10 per person (includes snack and drink)

Come enjoy a live musical presentation of Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle Book , designed especially for families. We will meet at 9:30 am outside the theatre room to pass out tickets and get the children (and adults) seated for the pre-performance snack.  The show begins at 10am and runs approximately one hour, ten minutes without intermission.  The show is appropriate for all ages, with the exception of those under three, who are not permitted to attend per Beef and Board’s policies.

Meeting place for Earth Day picnic

The Earth Day Extravaganza is taking place tomorrow at Garfield park.  We’ll be meeting for a picnic at 12 noon at the middle (read: largest) fountain in front of the glass conservatory.

I spoke with one of the Park managers and he said to his knowledge they’re not doing any outdoor activities this year, and that all activities will be in the conservatory.  I find that a little strange for an Earth Day celebration, but hey, at least it will be easy for us to find each other on the lawn!
