Did anyone watch the Denys Turner interview.
WFT was that all that about?
Seemed like unintelligible nonsense to me.

I think Denys Turner’s argument is the same as any who choose to explain the unexplainable with the answer of who the “giver” is?  And in his mind there must be a giver.

So to accept his premise, you must entertain the concept of a giver.  And to follow through, those things that cannot be explained, such as the endless series of childish “why?” questions, in the end, the answer is that the giver created it from nothing.

In addition, the giver is nothing.  At least no-thing that we can understand.

In my opinion, he makes our point for us.  By claiming that his God is nothing, means that there is no God.

He answers every WHY except the obvious.
Why God?

It seems to me that in the world of the intellectual believers god has been pushed out to the very fringes of human understanding.
I guess after centuries enlightened discovery and a resultant retreat of god’s territory there is a desire to place god where he is unassailable by science.
So where to next? Quantum god? String god?

Can god ever find a place to hide from the rational mind?

It also seems apparent to me that once you start with an absolute belief you can construct just about any theory to support it.
Even science is guilty of this but at least science can debunk itself.
