I’m sure a few of you are probably going, but I just thought I’d check.  For those who have forgotten, it’s that time of the year again when all of us evil scientists worldwide get together for our meeting. The time when we finally anounce our dreadful plan to take over the world with our fake theories and pharmocracy is upon us and at this AGM we will be discussing our naughty plan in readyment to put it into operation and thereby corrupt the world.  Do not tell anyone about this plan as I get the feeling that a whole load of people who have recently joined this site are already suspicious and might even be on to us.  All welcome and hope to see you there.
Love from,
Narwhol

Yes, I’ll be there, but I’m chair of the Hiding Safe & Effective Natural Remedies Committee this year. We’ve got quite an agenda, so I may not make it to many of the General Session talks, but hopefully I’ll see you at the opening reception? It’s sponsored by Big Pharma Inc., and Men In Black is performing, so it should be great fun!

Watch out for the Freemasons while you’re there. Some of them wear funny hats and ride around on tricycles, so you can’t miss ‘em.

I tentatively propose we introduce a perjorative word as our whole irrational argument against people who think that we should allow other methodologies into science such as illogical science and unscietific science.  If anyone has ideas for word that the describes the opposite view to that of “Scientism” proponents, post them here and we can vote.  My suggestion is “Orchidogory” and leading lights of this school of “unthought” can be called “Orchidogorists”.

How about Credism and Credists, for those who believe without evidence?

Hmmm… this sounds like a prejudice that someone could have like racism, etc. and the etymology is not insulting or sarcastic enough for my tastes, but it’s definitely in the running.

Again, we want something that they are quite likely to unwittingly take on board that has an insulting and sarcastic etymology.  Mine for example comes from the Greek Orchid = testicle(s) and agorias = to speak or orate.  So if you were to throw in a comment such as “Well, it sounds like you are making an orchidagorian argument, I didn’t realise that there were still advocates of this largely defunct shool of thought.”  It would be mean “Well it sounds to me like you are talking bollocks”, and calling it a school of thought might, in their eyes, give it legitimacy whereupon they might apply the word to themselves.  So let’s have some more equally low brow suggestions, please.

Well, how about “Exculogism,” from “ex"latin for out of and “culo” Spanish for ass. As a Yank, “you just pulled that out of your ass” has more umph for me than :you are talking bollocks.”
