What is wrong with these people?:

Support our troops! Don’t let them have Playboy!
A Christian advocacy group is encouraging military families, and other concerned citizens, to write letters to the Defense Department expressing concern over the recent decision by the Pentagon that allows the sale of certain adult magazines at military exchanges…

I wonder if the fear of death is really the major reason for the success of religion. Why are the religious so eager to dictate what is or is not acceptable when it comes to sex? I would like to see some study done on how sexually active (inactive?) the religious are vs the rest. Just think of the recent fiascos in the Catholic Church, pastor Ted, etc. Sexually unhappy? Well, spread the Good News! It is a sin, people, don’t do it!

Yes, the idea that looking at pictures of naked women will morally corrupt our young men, but killing other people deliberately is fine and dandy, highlights the ridiculousness of some Christian moral reasoning. I’m sure the subject is well studied, but I don’t have any idea why sex is such a bizarre fixation of Christianity in particular. Having come form a long line of Irish Ctaholics, I can tell you it doesn’t stop people having it!

I just wonder if the Pentagon allows the sell of homosexual porn magazines. . .

Well, yes. My mistake. What I meant was the ones in charge – like Haggard and others like him who are responsible for this evil nonsense.

It’s so much the “do as I say, not as I do” syndrome.  I’m reminded of an episode about twenty years ago at the San Francisco airport.  This was before the Internet. I was flying home from a meeting at our Berkeley labs.  The screening gates had just been put up so the guards opened each person’s briefcase went through it visually.  The distinguished gentleman in front of me was flying back to the midwest.  The lady asked that he open his case but he refused.  Two more guards came over and explained to him that it was now a requirement.  He finally opened it, and turned bright red as the female guard went through a whole stack of porn magazines and toys.  She wasn’t very empathetic because she held up each article for inspection by everyone in line as she examined the contents.

Apparently, he was taking advantage of his trip to San Francisco to bring home a batch of stuff that wasn’t available locally.  He was probably an upstanding, religious, pious member of his church and spoke harshly about any sexual activity or displays, but by himself had a very different approach.

Have you heard Ahmadinejad’s latest idiotic comment? When asked about the abuse of homosexuals in Iran, he answered that: “We don’t have homosexuals.” rolleyes

Apparently Islam “cures” homosexuality and substitutes 72 virgins if you martyr yourself.  About now I think we are looking for the wrong basis for religion.  I think it must be a virus that causes brain-rot.  This guy is so far away from reality that it would take a space ship going a warp nine for a month to get him close to sane.

It is frightening how people who seem quite obviously out of touch with reality get to be leaders of countries. And while it’s easy to say, well Iran’s backwards anyway, GWB doesn’t seem to have much better a handle on reality than Ahmadinejad. Scary!

Yeah right and like God he knows everything.

In fact on another forum I visited several months ago a gay Muslim from Iran who was also an atheist was asking advice from forum members, so I suppose he left Iran is the reason the president of Iran could make that statement.

Why he seems as ridiculous as those that say “there are no atheist in foxholes” or there “are no gays in the military.”
