I go by the name of Brother Jeff online. I am a former fundamentalist Christian who is now a happily free atheist. I was a believer for 15 years of my life, but I embraced reality when I came across a great deal of information that proved to me that Christianity wasn’t true. I found it at sites such as http://www.infidels.org . Anyway, I grew up in Texas, but I moved to Alaska a couple of years ago, and I love it here! Glory!

It’s just a fun expression I use. I picked it up from the folks at Landover Baptist.

I like it! because it makes fun of them.

One question - what’s with the picture?  Are you screaming?  Are you in pain?

I generally refrain from using Christian’s lingo, even to mock them.  For me it reduces my dialog to their level.

About the picture - I am known on my site and on a few other forums for my humor. It’s supposed to be just a funny face.

I’ve never actually heard a Christian use the phrase “Glory!”, but I love it, so I use it. Glory!

Jeff:  My very Christian grandmother used the phrase “Glory be” all the time.  Since I do not hang around with Christians I’m not in a position the really know what they say.  However a number of Christian songs use the word so I associate it with their lingo.  Glory to you too! :D

I came from Florida and arrived in Texas.  Must have just missed you. lol

I also have a religious sounding name.  I find it interesting how many atheist—automatically assume that I am a fundie.   It just goes to show you that jumping to conclusions occurs everywhere.

I just saw the movie “The Apostle”, with Robert Duvall playing an evangelical Texas preacher.  And yes, he says “Glory”, as well as “Praise Him” and the like.

And all I could think about was BrotherJeff…
