I hope Dawkins appreciates the entertainment value in these emails and doesn’t let it get him down. Sometimes being rational can make you feel like a single small point of light in a big dark world. He seems to be pretty thick skinned though. You have to be in his position.

At least he got to laugh a bit at the end ...

Here’s a scan of some fan mail, received by Richard Dawkins.  I’ve also included a link to an excerpt I uploaded to YouTube of the man himself, reading some other rather choice correspondence, as featured in his recently aired ‘The Genuis of Charles Darwin’ - here in the UK, on channel 4 television.

One of those letters was mentioned on Pharyngula. Funny stuff! Well, I suppose it’s funny unless you’re the one worried about exploding parcels being mailed your way.

I think these letters are published on his website http://www.richarddawkins.net under the ugly, plenty of rational debate there i think not.

I think a lot of these people actually would kill someone for being atheist. Scary
