Sorry George, I don’t understand. Disagree with what? The concept of a humanist homeland? I don’t know that any of us seriously support such an idea, though of course I can only speak for myself. And I don’t see joking about wanting to secede from the rest of the society, as a way of making humorous one’s frustration at the values and ideas of that society, as particularly sinister or dangerous.

I concur with brennen on this one.  You’d have to be a right eegit to want a humanist homeland. Now, a humanist reich on the other hand…  From what I’ve seen so far, Occam would probably be the himmler equivalent and (much as I despise the man for his outmoded bigotry and imperialism), I would be churchill.  And this last wouldn’t go over to well back home.

Hey! Why not settle for having a humanist diaspora instead?  That might work better than a homeland.

It would seem that we have a humanist diaspora already.  And, rather than Himmler, I’d prefer to be Genghis Kahn.

I’m assuming the idea was suggested largely in jest. Obviously, the world would be better off with more tolerance rather that each little ethnic or ideological group carving out their own mini-state.

Don’t think we really need one, but I would like to form a colony on Mars myself. Once we have the glass dome up, we can grow pineapples. All you have to do is make some minor donations (about $5 a piece) so that I can build a landing pad. Then, I will contact them using my Communicator *cough*flip phone*cough* and they will take us to Mars.

$4.5 a piece or lets quit all.

There seem to be quite alot of suggestions for a Humanist homeland in the USA.

Could I suggest somewhere East of Ireland rather than West of it?

Perhaps a small Humanist commune just outside Milton Keynes?

Or maybe in Blackpool?

Blackpool would be good. If you like candy floss, roller coasters, warm beer, fish and chips and tacky B&B for £15 per night!

Blackpool would put them a little too close to where I live for their own safety.
