Since 1991 inquirers have gathered at Amherst, New York, each summer for what has become the core program of the Center for Inquiry - Institute. Course offerings have ranged from intensive seminars, packed into every minute of a long weekend, to course-length immersive sessions.
Summer Session 2006 combines both learning styles. A 3-day intensive seminar on "Jihad and the West" - led by best-selling scholar-critic (and CFI Fellow) Ibn Warraq and physician-scholar Andrew Bostom - unravels today’s most critical confrontation between our secular society and a world religion. Concurrently, a 4+ week immersion program, "Core Values of the New Enlightenment," will probe the philosophical and moral underpinnings of secular humanism and our larger agenda of critical inquiry.
Attend either or both. Summer Session 2006 offers the educational experience(s) of a lifetime, scheduled without overlaps so you can experience it all. You can also observe portions of two other exciting weekend events: the Second Annual Convocation of Centers and Communities for Inquiry (a leadership training session for CFI volunteers from across the country) and the Center for Inquiry Student Leadership Conference. This Tenth Anniversary Student Leadership Conference will be filled with workshops, roundtable discussions, top-notch entertainment, and lectures by leaders in the science advocacy, secular humanist, and skeptic movements.
