I get above message very often on my Windows notebook (with firefox 3) even if it has been much longer that I made my last search. I tried to delete my cookie, but it made no difference. After logging in again, on clicking ‘View new posts’, I still get this message.
Funny enough, this does not happen on my Ubuntu (Linux) desktop PC, also with firefox (but there I still have version 2).
I just use Internet Explorer, and it’s happened to me a few times in the past, but as Doug and George said, even when the search engine works, it still does a fairly weak job so I seldom use it. But, hey, we pay very little for the forum program so what can we expect?
I am not searching often either, but I do use ‘View new posts’. and obviously that uses the search engine of the forum software. It is a little frustrating that this does not work, and the forum software is lying to me.
Oh no, it is getting worse: after reading one page of the forum, I only get ‘you have exceeded the allowed page load frequency’! Time to downgrade firefox?
That’s very weird; not sure what to suggest. If you’re getting that message, it must mean something on your machine is loading a bunch of pages from the forum at once. Could it be some plug-in you have in Firefox? Could it be a virus of some sort?

Hi Doug,
Of course you are not sure what to suggest, but…. You were correct!! It was a Firefox plugin, I deinstalled it and now everything works again. But now I deinstalled it, I even forgot the name of the plugin…
I’m having trouble logging on from my main computer. First problem was that it logged me off, secondly, when I log on, the site tells me I am logged on, but them the site calls me a guest and doesn’t allow me to post. My other computer will allow me to log on. As far as I can tell, this is the only reason I am having the problem with.
any ideas?? (I run foxfire, on a PC)
As a first test, try to delete CFI’s cookie. You should find the cookies under ‘preferences’ -> ‘privacy’ -> ‘show cookies’, and search for ‘centerforinquiry.net’. Afterwards you must login again. Tell me if it made any difference.
