I was wondering if there is a way to limit the length of any one post anyway.
Isn’t there that character counter?
I should have paid more attention during some of my longer posts, although it seems to me I would have tapped that limit.
Asanta, I completely agree with you. I have long been an advocate of length limitation of posts. Even, say, 2,100 characters which would be about 350 words, would be better than nothing. I feel if one cannot state one’s ideas within that limit, s/he hasn’t thought through what s/he is trying to say. Unfortunately, the consensus was to avoid limitations.
Post limits? Really? Do you think that would actually stop him? He’d just bust his blather up into smaller chunks.
And I’ve typed several very wordy posts before. Mostly when I really needed to elaborate upon/explain something in a post or was providing an in depth counter to something someone else wrote. I guess what I’m saying is: no post limits. They are teh s uck.
Dead Monky, I understand what you are saying, but to quote myself, ” I feel if one cannot state one’s ideas within that limit, s/he hasn’t thought through what s/he is trying to say.” Almost all of us are prone to babbling when we fire off a post in response. If we would just take a few moments to re-read and edit, we’d be surprised at how much we can condense and clarify.
You will discover, in time, that Occam has a thing about brevity. Laconic=clear in his style manual. As you will also find to be obvious soon enough, I use a different manual.
Oh, come on Brennan, I don’t think I have ever seen you ramble in a post. The only time you post any thing of length is to refute someone on some form of medical woo.
Doug catches them almost immediately so most seldom see them. And if he tries late at night, I’m often on and can delete them fast. So, he doesn’t accomplish anything.
Yes, he made a ‘brief’ appearance early this morning! He wasn’t ‘there’ long! I wonder if he spends all day going from forum to forum in some sort of maniacal order, or if he has a ‘day job’. I’d guess he lives on disability payments, given his obvious mental illness.
