Cannot wait to get Sam’s new book.  He writes with compassion and intelligence.  He should start debating people like Chris Hitchens and John Schook do.  Let’s get the debates started.  The new wars will be wars of the mind.

The problem is that Harris doesn’t seem to be very good at debating. It may no be that he doesn’t know how to debate, but that his ideas just sound better when they go unchallenged. You could see that in his recent debate with Wright, or during the discussion he had with Atran at the first Beyond Belief, or in this year’s EDGE conference on morality.
