I only noticed that CFI and CSICOP both were off-line, with the same error text, something like ‘database not found’. Both websites are run by the same provider.
I assume the database where every content is in crashed , and that some people were sweating to get everything back… At some moments I could connect, but all the forum topics were empty! (The great free will thread!!!!)
So whatever happened, everything was restored again. It means that the backup strategy somehow worked, but it took a little long… Room for improvement?
But who ever did it, thanks for getting everything back!
I actually hit one other website with the same error that day—I agree with GdB one explanation is a particular service provider.
I tried some other websites of the provider, and these worked. And from the ‘hesitating’ start, and the error that was not ‘404 - Not Found’, I conclude that the web server of CFI and CSICOP still worked, but the database software behind it did not.

Well, that calls for another round of cheers for the nifty Web Gurus lurking off in cyberspace somewhere keeping those wheels spinning.
Even if it took a little long (what ever that may be) it’s nice to see CFI fit as ever.
I noticed that the point of inquiry site was down as well as CSI and the CSICOP. However, one site that was not down was the gift shop. I actually found out that the new candle t-shirts were for sale before the feed on Facebook from Skeptical Inquirer alerted Facebookers to it.
As I see it the gift site is on a different server.
