Rather than going OT after Mriana cleaned up that tangle, here another split off:

Whatever, CC.

George, what part of . . .

citizenschallenge.pm - 11 November 2010 12:43 PM

... we shouldn’t forget we live in an over crowded society, with no place left to run to.  No more Americas nor Australias, no more far flung exotic blank territories left on the map of Earth.
Society has turned our planet into a pressure cooker.

. . .  doesn’t make sense to you?

I never thought about that being a split, but OK.  Works for me.  Thanks CC.

I discovered a message coming out of the Catholic Pro-life community.  They are trying to say that abortion has to be stopped because the planet needs more people.  They look at abortion as a threat to society by preventing people from being born that society needs.  Anybody else heard this?  I’ve talked to Catholics who are concerned that the population is decreasing.  What an odd thing to worry about these days.

Fertility is declining—has been for the past forty years or so—not population. According to the UN, population should start to decline in about sixty years from now.

Barring anything unforeseen, of course.
