There was one error in the video that I can see. Charles Schulz creator of the comic strip Peanuts was a devote Christian. How his name got on the atheist list is beyond me.

Huh, interesting issue. Perhaps the issue comes from the sort of information we find here ... look at “Religious Themes” where it says:

“By the late 1980s he told one of his biographers (Rheta Grimsley Johnson, 1989) that he identified with Secular Humanism.”

Haven’t read the bio, so can’t confirm this. (I also know next to nothing about Schulz).

I only post this because I knew Schulz and his family personally. I being a fellow cartoonist who met him several times at our National Cartoonists Society conventions, he was pretty free and vocal about his devotion. Very often one can find passages in his strips that quote scripture.

Does it sound reasonable that he would tell his biographer that he identified with Secular Humanism in the late 1980s?

I mean, was he open about his devotion then as well? Or was this at an earlier time?

That’s a good video.  Really drives its point home, and raises eyebrows when it bombards you with all the famous freethinkers (I had no idea all those actors were on our side!  Their publicists are probably going nuts over this video :wink: )

I especially like the prison percentage stats, and I was unaware of the divorce study.

And I had no idea the Buffet and his buddy Bill someone were both unbelievers.

I should add another that most people don’t realize: Andrew Carnegie.

Not sure if Buffett and Gates are full-fledged atheists, but they are certainly not traditional church-goers in any sense.

Who is the fellow who gives the annual million dollar prize to the person who finds facts that prove the truth of the bible?
I know that is an approximation. I hope someone knows who I mean.

John Templeton has his “ Templeton Prize ”, if that’s what you’re thinking of.

It claims to be a prize “For Progress Toward Research or Discoveries about Spiritual Realities”.

Soooo many questions about this one. First of all, “progress toward”? So you don’t need to show any real results.

“Research OR discoveries”? So you don’t need to show any real discoveries, just research.

“Spiritual RealitieS”? So there is more than one sort of “spiritual reality” apparently. Huh?

Templeton also bankrolled the recent study into the effectiveness of “intercessionary prayer” on human illness . NB: the article I cited says that their publication “Science and Theology News” also gets funded by Templeton.

Where is this “video on atheism” that you are talking about?
