The article isn’t available on the internet,
but the next time I’m in town I’m going to be sure to drop by the Magpie and buy me a copy.
But for now here’s an interesting review:

I might as well include part two 1/24/11:

“The vast majority of scientists—even American ones!—agree that human beings are pumping too much carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, and that this is causing the global climate to warm.

So why aren’t we trying to do anything about it? Well, we are. Millions of concerned citizens, climate activists, scientists, business leaders and policymakers understand the grave threat climate change poses, and are actively working to find the best ways to curb our emissions.

But these 12 people—very, very powerful people—are doing their damnedest to stop them. And it’s working.”

http://www.treehugger.com/files/2011/01/rolling-stone-politicians-execs-blocking-climate.php

Here’s Rolling Stone’s list, of Top 12 Politicians and Execs Blocking Progress on Global Warming—

1. Rupert Murdoch ~ {the man with mass media in his pocket}, No one does more to spread dangerous disinformation about global warming than Murdoch.
2. Charles and David Koch ~ {daddies warbucks}
3. Sarah Palin ~ {the distracting sex symbol and right wing America’s placebo against facing reality}
4. Gregory Boyce ~ {Mr. Peabody Coal}
5. Tom Donahue ~ US Chamber of Commerce
6. Rex Tillerson ~ CEO of Exxon
7. Tim Phillips ~ leader of AFP, a corporate front group that funnels cash to the Tea Party

9. Jay Rockefeller ~ Senator
10. Rep. Darrell Issa ~ (R-CA) {Mr. I’m gonna kill climate science}

This seems to be another “the horse has left the barn” issue,,, it seems we probably found out about global warming too late,,, there is just an enormous momentum of vested interest to continue the status quo…

BUT!!, I do think there’s hope we can ‘turn on a dime’,,, for me, most importantly,, is if it’s true that 4/5 of the world’s population are poor farmers,, with a little bit of education and change in perspective (psychology) we could “idealize” that life style… Turn our weakness into our strength and take a lot of carbon out of the air at the same time…

Considering the Republican agenda for the coming year: do away with the EPA, stop funding the IPCC, attack climate science, defund Earth Observation initiatives ~ this is very timely and alarm raising -

Yes, way too many horses have left the barn,
but that’s no reason not to try and stop the rest from from escaping.
At least that’s what the eternal optimist says downer
