Just a few weeks ago Australia was being assaulted with biblical rains and flooding.  The extreme rain from this weather system was very weird because it wasn’t associated with a cyclonic weather system.  The tradition rain drencher.  It was just a weather front pushed along by a strong La Nina Pacific Ocean condition.  This surprisingly strong front encountered extremely warm ocean waters off Australia and the rains started pouring and pouring.  Precisely the sort of weather character shift climate scientists have been speculating about since before the nineteen-fifties.

That was then, now this month in Australia the cyclones have arrived with a vengeance.  Hang on folks it’s going to start getting bumpy.

Giant cyclone hits Australian  tourist coast
By Rob Taylor ~ Wed Feb 2, 2011

CAIRNS, Australia (Reuters) - One of the most powerful cyclones on record slammed into Australia’s coast on Thursday, uprooting trees, tearing roofs off buildings and raising the danger of deadly storm surges.

Cyclone Yasi, packing winds of up to 300 km (186 miles) an hour near its core, come ashore along hundreds of kilometres of northeast coastline late on Wednesday. . .

‘Cyclone no time for atheist PM’

1st February 2011
http://www.centraltelegraph.com.au/story/2011/02/01/no-time-atheist-pm/

A CONTROVERSIAL church group has called on Prime Minister Julia Gillard to fall on her knees in prayer in the midst of the looming cyclone crisis facing Queensland.

“It is very sad that this dark chapter in Australia’s history is led by an atheist Prime Minister in Julia Gillard and an openly homosexual Greens leader… both who have no regard for God nor prayer,’’ Catch the Fire Ministeries said in a statement today. . . .

“How many more disasters will it take before our nation, starting from the Prime Minister, would fall on our knees and ask for God’s protection and turn back to Him?”

I’d blame it on Pat Robertson, but I’m pretty sure his powers only allow him to control hurricanes, not cyclones.

Australia, the land of thieves.  Where being Irish was enough of a crime to ship you to the other side of the world.  It is a sad land, a strange land, an island, and a flood land.

Don’t forget that it’s also a land full of insano-deadly murder beasts.
