Annual Picnic
CFI Indiana Annual Picnic—Sunday, August 16, noon, Reddick Shelter, Fort Harrison State Park, East 59th Street and Post Road. Anyone is welcome to attend. We have the shelter reserved from 7:00 am to 8:30 pm so feel free to come early and/or stay late.
THE MEAL WILL BE AT NOON.
The picnic will be at Fort Harrison State Park on the east side of Indianapolis (59th Street and Post Road). From I-465 on the east side of town take the 56th Street Exit and go East on 56th Street to Post Road. Turn left on Post Road and take that to the T at 59th Street. Turn left into the park. [When you come to the “T”, make a left hand turn to the park entrance.] There is a $5.00 per car charge to enter the park unless you have an Indiana State Park pass.
Our picnic will be at Reddick Shelter. Past the gate house, continue straight at each intersection. You will see two shelters. Reddick is the first one set back from the road. If in doubt, ask the attendant at the gate house for directions.
We have the shelter rented from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. So--you would be free to come and use it during that time. We will plan the meal to begin at noon. So come, see and enjoy the park after the meal. Children on the hikes must be accompanied by at least one responsible adult. There is a playground within eye sight of the shelter.
This is a social event with no planned program. There will be equipment for Bocce Ball and Horseshoes available and/or you may bring a game of your own. You may bring musical instruments or other entertainment also. It is a “family and guest friendly” event. Hope you will all come early, stay late, and make a day of it. So--let’s have a big crowd and a good time for all.
Bring your own meat to cook on the grill and a dish of food to share. Paper products and charcoal will be provided. There will be lemonade. If you want a different beverage, you may bring your own. You may want to bring a lawn chair for more comfortable seating.
Fort Harrison State Park is a “trash in--trash out” facility. Meaning: There are no trash cans. So bring plastic bags to take your own trash out with you. August 16, 2009
