Secular Radio Theater ShowSecular Radio Theater Show-Sunday, December 8, 6:00 pm, Center for Inquiry-Indiana, 350 Canal Walk, Suite A, He Who Drinks Boiling Tea--written, produced, acted, by CFI Indiana members, Steve Duerr, Matt Barron, and Craig Gosling.
This 45-minute production comes complete with music, sound effects, and "professional" acting. The story line is packed with theology and history that will confound religious folk and delight secularists. CFI member
Craig Gosling plays the roles of George Mivart, who initially supported
the theory of evolution until he broke with Darwin and sided with the Catholic Church's story of creation. Matt Barron plays the role of Vice Admiral John FitzRoy, who captained the H.M. S. Beagle early on in his career and chose Charles Darwin to accompany him on the Beagle's three-year voyage around the world. The seeds of evolution were planted in Darwin's mind during this voyage. The third character in the radio theater play is, of course, the one and only, Satan himself, also played by Matt Barron. Steve Duerr plays the role of the narrator. Steve recorded, and produced the show in Crunchy Frog Studios, which he owns and operates.
In addition to actual facts surrounding the birth of evolution, listeners will be entertained by Satan, who surprisingly, has a sense of humor
and a streak of compassion for George Mivart. Note: This radio theater episode takes place in history shortly after Galileo found release from Hell, as his immediate prior story relates in "Galileo's Dilemma". Both stories are based upon historical evidence, and a modest dose of creativity. Other Secular Radio Theater Stories are: "Darwin's Conversion and Retraction of Evolution", "An Interview with Einstein", and "Man Created God". They are available at this link. Listeners will love or hate every story.
