- Monday, September 8th 2014 at 8:45 pm
For the September meeting, be advised that the meeting will be on the second Monday of the month, instead of the usual first Monday, due to the Labor Day holiday. “How Neutral Is My Net?” will be the question posed and discusse dby CFI – NE Ohio member Steve Schlosnagle on Mon., Sept. 8, at 7 p.m.
Since the FCC's 2008 wireless spectrum auction, the words "net neutrality" and "open internet" have been featured in mainstream media. In January of this year the
courts told the FCC that they had over stepped their authority, but also told them to try again. And they did - in May the FCC proposed a new "net neutrality" interpretation that, so far, has made everyone unhappy. Member Steve Schlosnagle will cover how the internet works (in terms of neutrality, not as an engineering
course), what is meant by neutrality, what are the arguments against neutrality, and where this series of tubes is going.
