Neal Anderson, West Shore Unitarian-Universalist Church "What is Religious about Humanism?"
In the early twentieth century there was a movement that began with Unitarian ministers who no longer understood themselves as theists. They saw themselves as being non-theists yet still found worth in religion. Neal Anderson will discuss the evolution of humanism in the Unitarian Universalism.
Neal is the Intern Minister at West Shore Unitarian Universalist Church. This internship is the final step in ministerial preparation and he is now searching for a congregation to serve. He grew up in Saskatchewan and was a teacher before moving to Berkeley, CA, to attend the Starr King School for the Ministry. He would describe himself as a non-theist but also accepts the label of a religious humanist.
