CFI Welcomes New Development Director Martina Fern

December 4, 2014

The Center for Inquiry is delighted to welcome our new Director of Development, Martina Fern. She will be tasked with leading CFI’s efforts in fundraising and donor relations, strengthening our financial foundations, and building new, lasting relationships with those who support our mission.

A native of Kassel, Germany – coincidentally the home of the Brothers Grimm – Martina has lived in the United States for 25 years. After several years in administration and management for international corporations, she changed her career focus to raising funds for nonprofit organizations.

“With her rich and varied experience in international business, coupled with her drive to create a better world, Martina is poised to bring CFI’s development efforts to the next level,” said Ronald A. Lindsay, president and CEO of the Center for Inquiry. “CFI is a multifaceted organization, with many programs, campaigns, and initiatives, all of which require the resources to keep them strong and growing. We think Martina is well suited to this challenge.”

Working with donors at all levels, including individuals, foundations, government, and corporations, Martina has proven her ability to raise significant donations for human service, education, animal welfare, and media causes, with a sincere commitment to building long-term relationships between donors and organizations.

As a proud atheist and skeptic, Martina has been involved with the Center for Inquiry for several years. She holds an Abitur degree from OSGO College in Kassel, Germany, and is a Certified Grants Specialist. Her interests include writing and travel, and she also advocates on behalf of literacy, journalism and living organ donation.
