Richard Dawkins, one of the leading thinkers of our time, is back. The man who for four decades has given us a scientifically accurate way to look at the natural world, inspiring millions to better understand evolutionary biology and why religion fails as any form of truth, returns to the United States for a small number of very special engagements this fall.
The Center for Inquiry (CFI) and the Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason & Science presents “An Evening with Richard Dawkins,” where the author of such monumental books as The Selfish Gene and The God Delusion shares the stage with special guests to discuss matters relating to science, reason, freedom of inquiry, and humanist values. Tickets can be purchased at centerforinquiry.net/dawkinstour.
From October 25 to November 10, Prof. Dawkins will hold events in Phoenix, Los Angeles, Portland (OR), Grand Rapids, Indianapolis, and Philadelphia. The Phoenix and Los Angeles tour stops will also include opportunities to dine with Prof. Dawkins himself. Special guests will include neuroscientist and “New Atheist” author Sam Harris, Saturday Night Live veteran Julia Sweeney, and Charles Simonyi, the technologist and philanthropist who endowed Dawkins’ professorship at Oxford University.
Earlier this year, Prof. Dawkins suffered from a mild stroke that kept him from traveling for many months as he recuperated.
“Even as he worked to recover, Richard never stopped doing what he does best: exploring new ideas and sharing his thoughts with the world,” said Robyn Blumner, CEO of the Center for Inquiry and the Dawkins Foundation. “I’m delighted that American audiences will soon have the opportunity to hear his groundbreaking and inspiring views on science and secularism. Those of us fighting for a more rational, evidence-based worldview rely on Richard’s wonderful eloquence to make the public case for us all.”
