CFI-Harlem Monthly Meeting
Dear CFI-Harlem members,
Why are Blacks attracted to the Catholic faith? Did you know that Supreme Court Justice, Clarence Thomas, dropped out of seminary school? Being a priest was one of his great ambitions in life. (Wait to you read about his other one below.) His grandfather, who raised him and introduced him to the faith, paid for him to attend a segregated parochial grade school, an integrated parochial high school (he was the only one) and seminary college in support of his "son's" ambition. Well, something happened along the way:
Age 20, Immaculate Conception Seminary, Kansas City, MO.,1968
"...I walked into the dormitory one April afternoon and heard someone shout that Martin Luther King Jr. had been shot. 'That's good' another student replied, 'I hope that son of a bitch dies.' His brutal words finished off my vocation --and my youthful innocence about race."
So, what was Thomas to do now? He decided to finish his education elsewhere and become a lawyer. This was his mindset about that ambition:
"All that mattered to me was to learn as much as I could, get my law degree, and go home to Savannah (GA) to become a good lawyer and a community leader." "What I cared about more than anything else, I decided, was the condition of blacks in Savannah and across America."
Are you confused? I'll explain it all at the meeting. The aforementioned quotes are from "My Grandfather's Son" by Clarence Thomas. (See Advance Reading) I read his book and I didn't spit nails. I was sure ready. I will provide an outline about it for the discussion at the meeting. Come hear about his evolution. Keep an open mind about him. He predicted that the "social engineering" that was taking place in the 60's and 70's was going to do more harm than good in the short and long run. Guess what programs he's taking about?

The article accompanying this notice is only relevant because Pastor Rick Warren, the mega million selling author of the evangelical offering "The Purpose Driven Life" has persuaded Obama and McCain to a forum that he is hosting in August. Let's put things in perspective about the further promotion of his book immediately after this incident back in 2005. You talk about being high on Jesus, this will do it.

Celebrated Hostage Gave Crystal Meth to Captor

The woman held hostage in her apartment in March by the man now charged with murder in the Atlanta courthouse shootings recounted the incident in a memoir released Tuesday.
