Important note: this event is now closed to the public.

The Committee for Skeptical Inquiry and Skeptical Inquirer magazine recently selected Michael Specter winner of the 2009 Robert P. Balles Annual Prize in Critical Thinking. The yearly award is given to the author of the published work that best exemplifies healthy skepticism, logical analysis, or empirical science. Specter, who is a staff writer at The New Yorker , is being honored for his recent book, Denialism: How Irrational Thinking Hinders Scientific Progress, Harms the Planet, and Threatens Our Lives.

The Center for Inquiry in New York City is hosting a small dinner where Specter will briefly speak about his book and accept his award. However, this event is now full and closed to the public.
