Science and Skepticism Summer Scavenger Hunt
Do you have what it takes to compete with other teams in a scavenger hunt where your knowledge of science, skepticism, and New York City will be put to the test while you traverse the entirety of Manhattan and its surrounding boroughs?
If so, grab a teammate (teams of two) and compete for prizes at the CFI-New York City Summer Scavenger Hunt on Sunday, July 10. During the hunt, teams will be searching for items and photographs all over the city related to science, skepticism, and New York City. Clue sheets will be given to teams at sign-in. Each item and photograph listed will be given a point value. Prizes will be given to the teams with the most points. May the most reasonable team win!
The event starts with a sign-in at 11:30 a.m. at the north entrance to Washington Square Park, and ends at 6 p.m., by which time contestants should arrive at Bedlam, located at 40 Avenue C (at 3rd St.). At Bedlam we will count points, and free pizza will be provided. Regisration is free. To register, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with the following information: each teammate's name and email address, their team name, and one cell phone number we can text during the hunt.
What each team will need:
A camera. We will need to be able to see the photos you take at the end
of the hunt to give you points, so be sure to have spare batteries for
a digital camera just in case, or have your photos developed and
printed before the 6 p.m. deadline if you're using film.
- Healthy legs. You will be doing a lot of walking.
- A Metrocard or car. This hunt will involve traveling around New York City, and getting around without one of these will be impossible.
- A cell phone that can receive text messages. CFI leaders will be texting teams bonus clues throughout the hunt.
