Yuri’s Night NYC
On Saturday, April 4, the New York chapter of the Space Tourism Society (STSNY) will host Yuri’s Night, an annual space-themed international celebration that honors the first human foray into space, Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin’s 1961 flight, and the NASA Space Shuttle’s maiden voyage exactly 20 years later.
The event is aimed to inspire, inform, and provide a venue for a new generation to network about space exploration. The evening will include music from My Robot Friend, flight-themed live performances and video installations, space-themed games, DJs, VJs, dancing, a Midnight Toast to Yuri, and prizes for best costumes.
CFI is co-sponsoring the event by bringing in for the night Megan Seals , the Teachers in Space leader and 5th grade teacher who flew ZeroG on March 14, 2009. Seals serves on the board of directors of the Space Frontier Foundation and has served on the SFF’s Teachers in Space team for five years. She published an article on Teachers in Space in the Virginia Journal of Science Education. Hear first-hand about her ZeroG experience and learn how you can share in the excitement of Teachers in Space!
The event will start at 8 p.m. and end at 4 a.m. Tickets are $15 online, $25 at the door. Click here to buy tickets and get more information .
