Music Monday: Motörhead - “God Was Never On Your Side”

February 4, 2013

This week’s Music Monday is dedicated to Ray Lewis. After he and his team won the Super Bowl last night Lewis stated that, “When God is for you, who can be against you?” Well, the other team for one, but what bothers me most is self-righteousness of statements like this and the audacity that it takes to believe such a thing. Lewis isn’t alone, however, as a recent poll revealed that nearly 27 percent of Americans believe god “plays a role in determining which team wins” sporting events.

In the words of Lemmy, Mr. Lewis, “god was never on your side.”

As always, if you get a chance, send your suggestions for future Music Mondays to me at chashman@centerforinquiry.net, leave a comment below, or @tweet us at @CFIOnCampus. Your suggestions, along with future and past songs, may end up in the official Course of Reason Music Monday Grooveshark playlist or Spofity playlist that anyone can listen to.
