Music Monday: Rilo Kiley - “The Absence of God”
January 28, 2013
The first line of “The Absence of God” reminded me of a great article that Susan Jacoby wrote a week or so ago called “The Blessings of Atheism.” The first line (“The absence of God will bring you comfort, baby”) mirrors Jacoby’s thesis that atheism actually has something to offer humanity and can be a source of comfort.
Beyond the message of the song, Rilo Kiley is one of my favorite indiefolk bands. Enjoy.
