Music Monday: The Dandy Warhols
July 23, 2012
Today’s Music Monday song comes by suggestion from Farah at Cal State, Fullerton. Ever since it was suggested two weeks ago I have had a hard time getting the song out of my head. What makes it even more awesome is that this song is used on some episodes of Mythbusters.
The times I find myself perpetually singing to myself (in my head of course) “Yeah, uh, I am a scientist!” are when I am reading people’s brain waves in the lab I am currently working in. Basically, I put silly caps on people (similar to the one on the right here) and collect what are called evoked related potentials. Without going into too many details I am reading these potentials while people are reading sentences to help better understand how people read and comprehend language.
So, I hope all of you budding young scientists, like me, enjoy this song and find yourself in a lab someday singing “Yeah, uh, I am a scientist!”
As always, if you get a chance, send your suggestions for future Music Mondays to me at chashman@centerforinquiry.net, leave a comment below, or @tweet us at @CFIOnCampus. Your suggestions, along with future and past songs, may end up in the official Course of Reason Music Monday Grooveshark playlist or Spofity playlist that anyone can listen to.
