Secular Services!

October 20, 2011

As atheist groups become more common on college campuses, the maturity level and concern for local communities seems to grow. Student groups now are working hard to promote service projects of all kinds, and nothing makes us happier than seeing students doing good. Here are a few service events that we’ve seen, and want to say thank you to everyone involved for taking their own time to make the world a better place!, Humanists, & Agnostics at University of Wisconsin-Madison (pictured!) wrote about a recent cleanup that they did: “AHA Cleans Up State Street.” Check the article for “grossest item” and other gems that they found while cleaning up!

Illini Secular Student Alliance conducted a hotdog sale to raise over $200 for the Youth Service Bureau of Illinois Valley. Hotdogs, ftw! Read about it here.

University of Northern Iowa Freethinkers and Inquirers are participating in their school’s “Make A Difference Day” on October 22nd.

Freethinkers of Portland State University are involved Interfaith Service Days, and their first service day is also this weekend.

There are many more examples of skeptical, scientific, and secular student groups doing things just like this, so thank you to everyone for getting out and improving our communities!
