There are some great moments in movie history, and I thought it would be fun if we all posted some of our favorite moments. Pick your movie moment, go to YouTube and post via link. Post as many as you like.
There were many moments in this movie that I loved watching, but this was a nice one because you got to see Jack Nicholson’s character open his eyes for the first time and for one moment not think about himself.
I just realized something interesting. All of the links I posted (except for the Jesus one) have music in them which I find absolutely wonderful. (BTW, Morricone, Vangelis and Zimmer have written some of the best movie scores, IMO.) I guess I judge a movie by its music more than I ever realized.
Without the music, the visuals pale in meaning. FI watch “Jaws” without the John Williams score and it’s dull and flat. Big shark, so what? With the music it’ll scare you shitless. I watched the movie at a theater in Myrtle Beach and didn’t get in the water for 2 days. I just sat on the beach watching for a fin! Ennio Marocone’s music made the spaghetti western, especially “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly” one of my favorites.
This is going to be totally OT, but I just remembered something while reading Jack’s post. A friend of mine who is terrified of sharks always makes sure to rent a house with a pool when on vacation with his family. He would never go swimming in the ocean. So I looked it up and found out that only 0.5 people per year die as a result of a shark attack. I told my friend that he has a much higher chance of dying in a pool while slipping on a wet tile, but he didn’t believe me. And this is a guy who is a scientist, a PhD in chemistry. Let’s blame it on John Williams. :-)
