Part One of a special presentation featuring secular humanist thinkers Ophelia Benson, Bill Cooke, Elisabeth Cornwell, P. Z. Myers, Victor Stenger, and Anthony Pinn.

On March 4, 2012, the Council for Secular Humanism and the Center for Inquiry presented the final day of their conference titled “Moving Secularism Forward” at the Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport in Orlando, Florida.

The morning session was titled “What Are Our Objectives as Secular Humanists?” The session was moderated by FREE INQUIRY editor Tom Flynn. This episode includes presentations by Ophelia Benson, Bill Cooke, and Elisabeth Cornwell.

Ophelia Benson is editor of the provocative web site Butterflies and Wheels, deputy editor of The Philosophers’ Magazine, and co-author of the books Why Truth Matters and Does God Hate Women?. She is a FREE INQUIRY columnist. Bill Cooke is director of international programs at the Center for Inquiry. His most recent book was A Wealth of Insights: Humanist Thought Since the Enlightenment. Elisabeth Cornwell is executive director of the United States branch of the Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason and Science. Since this conference was held, she has been elected to the board of directors of the Center for Inquiry.
