Resources for Faculty
CFI programs and resources may be appreciated by students who take special interest in the foundations of science, scientific rationalism, positivism, philosophical naturalism, supernatural or paranormal claims, fringe science and pseudoscience, European & American Enlightenment studies, the American Founding, ancient and modern materialism, ancient and modern skepticism, comparative religion, sociology or psychology of religion, rationalistic theology, non-theism, secular moral philosophy and ethics, and secularism and secular humanism.
Some ways that you can assist such students:
1. Encourage them to join CFI On Campus.
2. Offer to serve as an official sponsor of a CFI campus affiliate group. Take a look at the .
3. Subscribe to or request that your library subscribe to Free Inquiry, Skeptical Inquirer, or the philosophy journal Philo and distribute copies to an existing philosophy club or department discussion group, or other supporting departments.
4. Support students in pursuing an internship or summer courses through the Center for Inquiry, which offers undergraduate courses in critical inquiry and the scientific outlook in cooperation with the State University of New York. Courses are offered at SUNY Buffalo and University of Oregon, Eugene. Internships are available at Centers in Amherst, New York and Los Angeles, California.
5. Contact a CFI campus organizer to request an expert speaker or CFI representative. CFI can provide guest lectures and seminars, campus-wide debates on topics important to you and to CFI, organizational workshops, and even award-winning interactive "psychic" performances that teach students hands-on critical thinking skills.
6. Teach a section or a course using the resources CFI provides, such as college course syllabi, primary and secondary school lesson plans, extensive bibliographies, online articles for educators and reprint articles from Free Inquiry, Skeptical Inquirer, and Philo.
