The U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday afternoon voted 222-205 to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), legislation designed to provide both local communities and women essential resources to help combat domestic abuse, sexual assault, and stalking.

The Center for Inquiry today joined 22 faith and humanist groups in urging President Barack Obama to issue an executive order banning discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender employees of federal contractors.
