Center For Inquiry Supports 2009 Respect for Marriage Act

September 15, 2009

This week, Representatives Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), Tammy Baldwin (D-MN) and Jared Polis (D-CO) are introducing legislation to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). This bill, called the Respect for Marriage Act, would repeal all of DOMA and give legally married same-sex couples federal benefits. The Center for Inquiry has joined a number of civil rights organizations by sending a sign-on letter urging members of Congress to co-sponsor the Respect for Marriage Act.
