Groups Push U.S. Department of Education to Continue, Expand Study of D.C. Voucher Program

The National Coalition for Public Education— a group of 60 church-state, civil rights, and education organizations, including the Center for Inquiry —wrote the U.S. Department of Education’s Director of the Information Collection Clearance Division on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, to request that the Department continue and expand its survey of the D.C. school voucher program.

President Barack Obama had called on Congress to phase out the so-called District of Columbia Opportunity Scholarship Program. However, the U.S. Senate and House this past summer rejected that idea and voted to extend funding for the program. You can read our news post about that story here.
