Same-sex marriage now in four states
April 8, 2009
Vermont is now the fourth state to recognize same-sex marriages, and the first where same-sex marriage was enacted in the legislature. In the other three states–Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Iowa–same-sex marriage was mandated by the state supreme court. As we saw in California, the courts may be ahead of popular opinion. The Center for Inquiry supports same-sex marriage on grounds of equality: read our position paper, Same-Sex Marriage–and Marriage, on this website. Click on Posiiton Papers.
