Since CFI relaunched the Freethought Books Project in early December 2013, we have received many inquiries from individuals interested in getting involved or supporting us. Here are some answers to our most frequently asked questions.
How can I become a pen pal?
Right now, our local pen pal program is limited to Western New York and South Jersey, where we have volunteer leaders to manage it. If you are outside of these areas, you can become a pen pal by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org to express your interest. We just ask you to share your name, how you identify (freethinker/atheist/humanist/etc.), and a little bit about why you’d like to join the program. After that, we will send you the program guidelines and pair you with an interested inmate.
How can I support the project? What are your biggest needs?
Currently, our biggest need is books. You can purchase books to be sent to the project from our Amazon Wish List, or by gifting a book from Pitchstone Publishing. Books purchased in this way will be sent to our headquarters in Amherst, and then sent on to prisoners.
I have freethought books. How can I send them to you?
Mail them via USPS to: CFI Freethought Books Project, PO Box 741, Amherst, NY 14226
Mail them via FedEx or UPS to: CFI Freethought Books Project, 3965 Rensch Rd, Amherst, NY 14228
If you can, please let us know the books are on the way by emailing email@example.com.
Your Amazon Wish List is not complete! How can I suggest additions?
We are open to suggestions! If you would like to see a book added, email firstname.lastname@example.org to suggest it.
