CFI To Hold 4th Annual Canoe Trip

July 20, 2011

CFI-Pittsburgh will hold its 4th annual canoe trip on Saturday, August 13th. This sedate excursion down the Youghiogheny River has proven to be popular in the past and should be a great event this year, as well. There is no real whitewater along the route, although there are a couple of gentle rapids along the way. But there is nothing that should preclude participation by children or older adults who may want to participate but are concerned that it might be too strenuous or dangerous.

As before, there will be a picnic at the approximate halfway point, Cedar Creek Park. Like last year, this will be a Louisiana-style Shrimp Boil, which proved to be very popular. While the two events are connected, they are able to be stand alone events for those who only want to participate in the picnic or just the canoe trip. There is also a bike trail, part of the Great Allegheny Passage trail connecting Pittsburgh to Washington, DC. Just like last year, a great time should be had by all.
