This year, for our annual picnic, we have decided to take advantage
of one of the better recreational opportunities that we have here in
western Pennsylvania. We have organized a canoeing expedition on the
mighty Youghiogheny. This leisurely trip begins with us meeting at the
outfitter's place in West Newton around 9:30 to get all of the
paperwork and things handled. We will then be taken by the outfitter's
van some miles upstream to the put-in where we will set off on our
downriver trip back to West Newton. Along the way, those who may be
interested can meet for lunch at the boat dock in Cedar Creek Park.
Anybody else who prefers to ride bicycles could travel along the
river's bike trail and meet there as well as those who would just like
to meet for a picnic lunch. Thanks to the modern wonder of cell phones,
we can keep in touch and co-ordinate everything to come off without a
hitch. Yeah, right! Anybody wanting more information or wanting to
