Calling all Inquiring foodies!

Our next ethnic restaurant dinner:

 Friday, February 12th

, starting at 7:00 p.m.

 Punjabi Dhabha

, a great Indian/Pakistani restaurant right in the heart of the restaurant row on Devon Avenue

2525 W. Devon Ave., Chicago (between Campbell Ave & Maplewood Ave)
(773) 262-2080

CFI/Chicago has started a new social initiative! Please join other CFIers for ethnic restaurant dinners every once in a while, where interesting menus and great conversations intersect! As always at the CFI, new people are just as welcome as familiar faces! All dinners will be "dutch" style (you pay for your own meal and drinks). Most of these places don't have liquor licenses, but welcome bringing your own beer or wine (BYOB) to share if you care to have a glass or two.

Our first venture, in October, was great fun, with about 18 new and familiar folks!

Punjabi Dhabha does have a full bar and so it's not BYOB.

Street parking. They accept credit cards.

Please note that this is NOT the nearby (and better-known) Sher-a-Punjab restaurant.

If you are coming to this dinner,

please RSVP to the CFI office with your name so we can estimate the number of people who will be attending.

 CFI office: 312-226-0420

NOTE: This is a 10:30 am meeting,

You won't want to miss this one

- and the EHS folks are looking forward to seeing many of you there, too!! This IS the CFI/Chicago February program - there will be no February event at the UIC.

DJ's discussion will focus on whether it is possible to develop ethical systems built on Darwin's observations on evolution and human morality. Could such systems replace outmoded, even destructive, religious beliefs about right and wrong, and replace them with a science of ethics? Can religion generally, not merely "bad" religion, actually be to blame for many of the world's troubles? Could a secular ethics offer real solutions?

DJ Grothe has recently accepted the presidency of the James Randi Educational Foundation. For many years, he was the Vice President for Outreach for the national/international Center For Inquiry, which is headquartered in Amherst, NY and has branches in many countries as well as in Chicago and many other US cities.
