February 12th at 2:00 pm

What can the decision making skills of monkeys tell us about our
own tendencies? How do chimps and human toddlers decide when and how
to help others? Just how "smart" and "nice" are our closest relatives?
And how did their evolution impact human development?

On the anniversary of Charles Darwin’s birthday, join us as we explore the origins of the human mind with
prominent psychologists Laurie Santos, director of the Comparative Cognition Laboratory at Yale University, and Felix Warneken, Department of Psychology at Harvard University. Drs. Santos and Warneken will join Massimo Pigliucci,
evolutionary biologist-turned-philosopher at the City University of
New York, for a discussion about altruism, decision making, and the
evolution of human cognition.

The event will take place on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2 p.m., at the Eisner
& Lubin Auditorium at New York University, located 60 Washington
Sq., near the A/C/E/B/D/F/M/N/R trains. Admission is free and open to
the public.

This event is sponsored by the Center for Inquiry-New York City and
New York City Skeptics, both of which are members of Reasonable New York.

Are you tired of dealing with people
imposing their superstitions on you? Do you need a break form the
irrational? Then join a group of skeptical individuals for an evening
of food, drink and skepticism!
In the spirit of Robert Green Ingersoll we will meet up on the
thirteenth of every month and will not be afraid to break mirrors,
spill salt, and in general throw our irrational fears to the wind! So
come out and toast reason, logic, and critical thinking!

Drinking Skeptically, organized by the New York City Skeptics, is an informal event designed to promote fellowship and networking among skeptics, critical-thinkers,
and other like-minded individuals.
Drinking Skeptically provides an opportunity for skeptics to talk,
share ideas (and yes, drink) in a casual, relaxed atmosphere. We
discuss the issues of the day and whatever else is on our minds. But
most of all, we have fun while promoting skepticism, science, and
rationality.
