This approach differs from typical 12 - step programs and focuses on improving personal rational behavior processes rather than dependence on a "higher power". Secular Sunday School is a program geared toward kids who are between 6 and 9 years old. Children have time to play and make friends, as well as participate in fun, engaging lessons focused on three areas: science/critical thinking, comparative religion/culture, and humanism/ethics.

Our facilitators are Barbara Perez, an experienced 2nd Grade teacher in the Beaverton School District, along with Wendi Cooksey and Erin Mueller, two parents who have extensive experience in teaching science to children (from elementary through middle-school).

The group meets twice a month, on the 2nd and 4th Sundays, from 10:30 AM until 12:00 noon.  For more information, and for class location and directions, please contact the group organizer, Erin Mueller at erin.c.mueller@gmail.com.

James Randi exposes popularly-accepted fakery by discussing with his audience everything from ESP to dowsing, from academic frauds to faith healers. Randi reveals what really took place in the last three decades in the labs of various prestigious "think tanks" that verified a series of simple magicians tricks as genuine miracles, thus launching a world-wide plague of misinformation, the repercussions of which can still be felt today.

This unique and provocative lecture is not only educational but also highly entertaining. It attracts persons of all educational and social backgrounds and provides a rational perspective on the seemingly paranormal and otherwise unexplained happenings in our day-to-day life.

Randi began his career as the magician The Amazing Randi, appearing on countless TV shows including The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, in which he appeared 32 times.  You can see an appearance by watching "James Randi Debunking Psychic Surgery" on YouTube.  And he has been featured occasionally on the TV show Penn & Teller:  Bullshit!

In 1996, he established the James Randi Education Foundation to further his work.   JREF currently offers a prize of $1,000,000 to anyone who can demonstrate evidence of any paranormal, supernatural or occult power.  No surprise; it remains unclaimed.

Randi is the author of numerous books, including The Truth About Uri Geller, The Faith Healers, Flim-Flam!, and An Encyclopedia of Claims, Frauds, and Hoaxes of the Occult and Supernatural.
