Ronnelle Adams

Author, Poet — Washington, DC

Ronnelle Adams is an author/poet and secular activist from the Washington, D.C. area. His first children's book, Aching and Praying, was published in 2011 and he has spoken at the Reason Rally, the American Atheist Convention, and for secular college groups. He has also contributed to an upcoming narratives book, Atheists In America, by Columbia University professor Melanie Brewster.

Ronnelle has experience and advice on growing up gay in a highly religious environment. He can also discuss the choice to leave religion over just becoming a liberal Christian, and rebuilding life afterwards. In writing children's stories, he stresses promoting helathy skepticism as opposed to indoctrination. He is also big on broadening the scope of secular messaging, saying "It's not just a discussion for college campuses and among people of a certain socioeconomic background. It's great to be surrounded by eggheads in the community, but it's important that everyone understand that you don't need to be an egghead to understand the importance of secularism."
